Splitting Multiple Situations in Conditional Planning

چکیده

Most current conditional planners are based on explicit representation of alternative outcomes of conditional actions. The explicit representation of possible outcomes induces a split in the search space which rapidly exponentially grows. A general strategy of minimal splitting of multiple situationl, for conditional planners, is introduced in this paper, in order to reduce the amount of computational resources required to manage conditional branches. The strategy is based on the definition of conditional formulas, they allow to represent set of situations avoiding explicit combinatorial representation of them. Conditional formulas are used in order to keep the search space and plan representation as small as possible while splitting on conditional branches is avoided if not pertinent to the problem at hand. The proposed strategy also minimises the use of observing and sensing operations during plan execution monitoring.

Optimal Planning in the Presence of Conditional Effects: Extending LM-Cut with Context Splitting

The LM-Cut heuristic is currently the most successful heuristic in optimal STRIPS planning but it cannot be applied in the presence of conditional effects. Keyder, Hoffmann and Haslum recently showed that the obvious extensions to such effects ruin the nice theoretical properties of LM-Cut. We propose a new method based on context splitting that preserves these properties.

A Theory of Conditionals Based on Hierarchies of Situations

We present an approach to the semantics of subjunctive conditionals based on the situation semantics notion of a constraint, in which the connection between antecedent A and consequent B of a conditional ‘if A were the case, B would be’ is an informational relation between types of situations. We also argue that the information contained in a hierarchy of planning schemas as commonly used in Ar...

A mathematical model for the design of distributed layout by considering production planning and system reconfiguration over multiple time periods

In this paper, we develop a new mathematical model that integrates layout configuration and production planning in the design of dynamic distributed layouts. The model incorporates a number of important manufacturing attributes such as demand fluctuation, system reconfiguration, lot splitting, work load balancing, alternative routings, machine capability and tooling requirements. In addition, t...

Presenting a model for Multiple-step-ahead-Forecasting of volatility and Conditional Value at Risk in fossil energy markets

Fossil energy markets have always been known as strategic and important markets. They have a significant impact on the macro economy and financial markets of the world. The nature of these markets are accompanied by sudden shocks and volatility in the prices. Therefore, they must be controlled and forecasted by using appropriate tools. This paper adopts the Generalized Auto Regressive Condition...

Encapsulation of Actions and Plans in Conditional Planning Systems

We introduce a notion of macroaction for a given subplan. A macroaction is an action representing the given plan and it can be considered as an abstraction, neglecting the internal structure of the original plan. The description of the macroaction is sufficiently powerful to represent all the information needed for synchronization and clobbering detection of the given subplan. It is possible to...
